Mapping Australia and Well-Known Places
Tasks on this page are all about the mapping of Australia and well-known places in our country.
Mapping:
Mapping:
- Your first task is to locate a blank map of Australia on the internet (see useful links for help). This means just the outline of the country and states, no writing! (Like the one to the left).
- Print this map out on a page of its own (the map should fill most of the page).
- Look up the names of our states and territories and their capital cities. Mark and label these on your map. Make sure you identify which city is Australia's capital.
- Choose a well-known site from each state/territory to mark and label on your map (e.g. Uluru).
- Extension: if you would like to add more well-known sites and/or major cities to you map you can.
Well-Known Sites:
Now that you have identified some well-known places in Australia, it is time to learn some more about them.
- Choose one well-known site which you marked on your map, it can be from any state or territory
- Download this fact sheet and print it out to fill in about your site
- Search for information about your site (see useful links for some ideas) in order to answer the questions on the sheet
- Extension: if you would like to add any extra information to your sheet about your site, you may do so on the back of it.
